With a background in illustration and life drawing, my experience working with traditional media brings something different to my skill set and approach as a designer. Soon after making the switch to graphic design nearly 10 years ago, I gained a deep appreciation for typography and dove into type design, creating original typefaces and hand-lettering to give my work something truly custom. Logo and identity design is especially close to my heart, since it often combines my love of type, illustration, and analytical thinking into a single, must-be-pixel-perfect package.

 

In my agency life, it’s been a real joy to be able to train and mentor newer designers and production artists. I love figuring out how to explain the inner workings of something to someone else in clear terms they’ll be able to put to work immediately. I don’t believe in giving feedback without also giving a reason why—every critique is a teaching opportunity. I'm also one of the few ADs I know who doesn’t dread leading creative reviews, likely for this very reason.

 

After three years working directly with the senior leadership team at Microsoft—including a year in the role of lead communications designer to the CEO—I’ve also learned what it takes to think quick on my feet and create effective design under the pressure of a tight deadline when needed. Some of my other clients include the teams at Microsoft Office, Windows, Xbox, Skype, T-Mobile, Boeing, TED, BECU, Blackboard, and Amazon, plus a base of smaller companies and non-profits throughout the Greater Seattle Area.
